What Students say

I certainly feel like I have learned a lot since your classes started.  You can never work on technique enough
and I feel like I am learning from an expert.  I take my private lessons from another studio. A couple of weeks ago, we had a judge come in for graduation.  He wrote on my card for foxtrot, "Good brushing action and good heel leads!".  I smiled when I read that, because I knew it was your class that had got me to that level!

Carolyn

I have really enjoyed your classes and feel that my confidence has grown as I take this sometimes scary step into teaching. I'm really glad you came to the studio.

- Sharon Ferguson

My life has changed since I met Mary. She was the first dance instructor to really give me an understanding of body mechanics, and being "present" with the music and with your partner. Now that I am limbered up, we have moved on to explore new ways to express myself while dancing. I feel elevated into another realm: free to interpret and experience music "in the moment"

-Stephen Marcus

You are an excellent teacher and I am happy to be studying with you.

Why Dance?

There are almost as many reasons to learn to dance as there are dancers. I know that learning to dance changed my life in a very positive ways. Here are just a few of the benefits:

Gain Confidence and relax

The more confident you are, the easier it is to relax. You'll be amazed how easy it can be to feel self-assured on the dance floor and in social situations.

Get fit while having fun

While some studios teach you the steps, we teach you how to use your body in a way that makes you a much better dancer and a more fit person all the way around.

Improve your social skills

Partner dancing develops better communication skills. We'll help you feel comfortable and prepared for social situations on and off the dance floor.

Add creativity and artistry to your life

It's all over the news that creativity helps people be more resilient in all areas of their lives. Learning to dance is a fun way to enhance creativity.

Stay ahead of the curve

As we age, there are lots of factors working to slow us down. Ballroom dance is recognized as a way of preventing diseases like Alzheimers, while increasing joy.

Improved balance, posture and coordination

Your posture is as important to your health as it is to the overall impression you make on others. Dancers have better posture.

Be happier

Learning to dance well promotes a positive self image and helps to build self-esteem and confidence. You'll be a better person because you'll be happier with yourself.

Dancing well is an accomplishment

You'll feel great after just a few lessons, knowing that you've increased your vitality and attractiveness, and that you're acquiring a skill that will last you a lifetime.

Whether you're just learning to dance so you can overcome feelings of ineptitude on the dancefloor, want to impress your date, or are looking to find something you can really excel at and enjoy for years to come, learning to dance will be one of the most rewarding things you've ever done for yourself.
